The Communications and Marketing department is entrusted with supporting the achievement of priorities in SAIT's strategic plan, telling SAIT’s story, enhancing our brand and executing on marketing strategy across SAIT, in collaboration with schools and departments. As the Internal Communications Specialist, you will work closely with the Employee Services leadership team to plan, develop and execute strategies that engage employees. You have demonstrated success in creating first-class communications and marketing plans. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement high-level strategic integrated communications and marketing plans that align with the strategic priorities of both Employee Services and SAIT

  • Create innovative and targeted messages and tactics that engage employees and support Employee Services’ programs, goals and initiatives — including talent management, employee engagement, employee development, performance management, payroll and recruitment

  • Collaborate with Employee Services and Communications and Marketing departments as well as other key stakeholders

  • Proactively pursue opportunities to support the communications and marketing needs of Employee Services

  • Project manage the execution of the plans ensuring deadlines are met

  • Ability to manage crisis and conflict communications

  • Writing responsibilities include: key messages, presentations, letters, web and social content, fact sheets, speeches, templates, how-to documents and video scripts

  • Research and implement best practices, assist with event planning and support

  • Track and measure the success of initiatives

  • Seek opportunities to ensure communication is effective, clear, integrated, impactful and reinforces key business objectives

  • Champion and exercise collaboration within the departments and across the campus to facilitate and maximize effective communications and marketing

  • Support Communications and Marketing initiatives as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creating and executing strategic communications and marketing plans

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high level of attention to detail

  • Experience in Human Resources is highly preferred

  • Change management skills and experience preferred

  • Experience in unionized environment is an asset

  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders

  • Must be able to effectively manage competing priorities and work well under tight deadlines in a changing environment

  • Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and performs well with minimal supervision

  • Discrete and ethical

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
