UCP (previously known as the UCAR Office ofPrograms) was created in 1992 to manage a number of unique programsrequested by the UCAR community. The programs under the UCAR CommunityPrograms (UCP) umbrella offer a suite of innovative resources, tools,and services for the atmospheric and Earth science community.CPAESS was created in February 2016, from the merger of two long-establishedand successful programs: the Joint Office of Science Support (JOSS) andthe Visiting Scientist Programs (VSP). CPAESS is providing an extensiveportfolio of organization and management services for the broad Earth sciencecWhat You Will DoProvides administrative support for UCAR's Cooperative Programs for theAdvancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS). This requires excellentskills in the coordination and accomplishment of administrative supporttasks, including: travel administration, database maintenance, eventmanagement, and other general administrative tasks.Travel AdministrationResponsible for the overall travel support functions of the office, whichinclude: Makes complex domestic and international travel arrangements for visitors andemployees.Works with travelers to ensure compliance of all travel regulationsand completion of required travel documents.Prepares and submits travelexpense reports.Partners with Event Planners to manage travel support formeeting participants.EventsCoordinates and assists with event logistics, including creating andmanaging registration sites, arranging catering, preparing meetingmaterials, providing onsite support, and providing other event support asneedeGeneral Administrative SupportAssists the program staff in ensuring that theday-to-day operational needs of the office are being met, including dataentry and database maintenance, opening and distributing mail, answeringphones, ordering office supplies, and engaging in other administrativeduties as required.Drafts, edits, and proofreads generalcorrespondence.Edits/proofreads/formats administrative and/or scientificand specialized technical documents and edits non-technical portions forcorrect grammar, spelling and formatting. Prepares mass mailings fordistributiWhat You NeedHigh School diploma or equivalent and at least two years'relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education andexperience.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to perform well as aneffective team member within diverse groups.Excellent written and oralcommunication skills, including editing and proofreading writtencorrespondence, and practicing professional phone and emailetiquette.Knowledge of word processing, graphics, presentation,database, financial tools and spreadsheet software.Excellent data entryskills, with a focus on accuracy.Ability to work independently with minimalsupervision and as an engaged team member.Advanced knowledge of travelplanning processes.Ability to prioritize tasks.Ability to adapt to a changingwork environment.Ability to handle confidential information with discretionand reliability.Ability to travel when required.Desired SkillsKnowledge of the Concur travel and expense managementsolution.Advanced skill in processing travel paperwork in accordance with UCARprocedures.Thorough understanding of UCAR's
