Manager Airports Duty

Position Summary:

The Manager is responsible for all facets of day-to day operational tasks. The Manager also ensures quality, efficiency and consistency in the execution and implementation of operational policies and standards. The manager is responsible for operational targets and goals and serves as the primary point of contact for ground operations, ticket counter, and/or gate and oversees the supervisors and Crewmembers in these areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that quality of customer service is in-line with the high expectations Customers have for JetBlue

  • Manage the daily operations of a shift, including payroll issues, safety, staffing and scheduling

  • Manage the operational performance by overseeing the daily flight operation to meet or exceed the established performance goals

  • Resolve Crewmember and Customer issues

  • Participate in ad hoc committees; respond to ad hoc requests to establish, develop or re-visit guidelines, policies and/or procedures as they pertain to the operation or the Crewmembers

  • Manages all Business Partner relationships and monitors performance and compliance

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years prior Part 121 airline experience

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge

  • Ability to work shift schedule

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong Customer Service Skills

  • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance

  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Two (2) years of prior operational experience

Supervision Received:

  • Plans and carries out work assignments and handles problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices in the occupation. Consults with Crewleader on unique situations which do not have clear precedents

Supervisory Duties:

  • Trains, assigns work to, and checks work of two (2) or more Crewmembers; participates in the decision to hire, fire, and promote Crewmembers; does not conduct the same work as Crewmembers on a regular basis

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • Be willing to travel as needed for training and company sponsored meetings.

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Equipment:

  • Computer and other office equipment

  • Tug, push back tractor, forklift, deicing vehicle and other ground service equipment

  • Jetbridge

  • All Informational Display Screen systems (RIDS,FIDS, BIDS, GIDS, SPIDS)

  • Ground service equipment, hand held radios, scanners, light emitting diode (LED) signs, mail and cargo equipment as necessary

Work Environment:

  • Airport environment

  • Inclement weather

  • High noise area (jet engines)

  • Shift work and irregular hours due to irregular operations

Physical Effort:

  • Position requires strenuous physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently. (Heavy)
