The purpose of the position is to develop and maintain data architecture for DePuy Synthes (D/S) Supply Chain aligned with the overall client data and analytics strategy. The architecture will be consistent across projects and also implemented for each relevant project in D/S SC.

The position:

  • Creates a D/S SC data architecture aligned with CLENT SC data architecture

  • Engages with D/S SC projects and ensures they align with D/S SC architecture

  • Understands and influences data architecture in major CLIENT Data platforms – EMS, EDL, EDW, EADS

  • Partners with Data teams globally in the development and execution of data reference architecture

  • Works under guidance from SC Product Line Architect Data and Analytics (DnA)

The functional scope of the position is focused on Data and Analytics. The candidate will have a good grasp of CLIENT'S DnA Reference Architecture and optimally will have architected and/or deployed data structures against that framework. The candidate will also be conversant in the DnA Marketplace and can demonstrate success in using DnA to drive business outcomes. Of specific interest, will be the ability to define a Domain-wide data architecture and guide a broad portfolio of activities toward alignment against that architecture.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Lead the baselining and evolution of the conceptual architecture foundations of CLIENT Supply Chain applications and their integration.

  • Bring a strong background and expertise in Supply Chain processes and functional integrations, to provide an End-to-End prospective of SC areas of business and information. Guide Enterprise Architecture definitions on the basis of the End-to-End SC patterns.

  • Partner with BUIT and Shared Services teams to create prototypes to provide a strong foundation for evolving our IT applications supporting Supply Chain processes and help define target state application integration architecture end-to-end.

  • Own and evolve the D/S Data Architecture in partnership with BUIT solution architects and Application Services and Infrastructure Services.

  • Enhance and own D/S application portfolio review process for data architecture, in partnership with Product Line Architects and Product Line Owners.

  • Available to consult with governance groups for major data platforms – EDL, EDW, EADS, EMS.

  • Identify where new strategic directions need to be addressed based on the known new technologies.

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met and oversee documentation activities and participate in compliance activities as required

This position will report to a Supply Chain Product Line Architect DnA. The span of responsibility of this role is Data Architecture for DePuy Synthes (D/S) Supply Chain. Liaising with and communicating succinctly to a wide range of partners will be required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required with 7-10 years of Business and Technology experience with architecture reviews, developing architecture deliverables, and execution of programs/projects. 3 years partnering/guiding business at management levels are required. 3 years’ experience in supporting Supply Chain domains. 3 years’ data architecture is required. Knowledge and direct experience with technologies/platforms such as Cloudera ecosystem, Teradata, Gemfire, MDM, Tableau, QlikView, QlikSense and other related data and analytics tools deployed in Support of Supply Chain Data and Analytics. Ability to drive resolution for critical issues is required. Proven experience & knowledge of data modeling, data integration, big data technologies along with IoT (internet of things) within Medical Device/Healthcare/Pharmaceutical Industry is desired. Must be able to build strong partnerships, collaborate, and partner interdependently with key stakeholders to build strong relationships across IT and with business partners

Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer relationship skills are required. Must have a strong working knowledge of the processes in scope of J&J-SC with a hands-on knowledge in delivering IT results in at least one of the SC sub domains. A proven track-record in delivering solutions, managing such delivery and taking responsibility for guiding peers is required. Must take global view of the function and be responsive to all constituents across the globe. Should be able to communicate both to business and IT in order to translate implications of technology and timing aspects of IT solution with respect to business results. The ability to reach out and influence across sector, across cultures and other boundaries is required. Must be strategic as well as pragmatic and be focused on achieving results for IT and business success. Must be accountable for customer satisfaction. Must be continually reaching out to learn about future IT trends and suggest pilot and innovation programs within strategic roadmaps, in cooperation with peers in Architecture as well as in BUIT and across other IT functions. Must have a strong understanding of and commitment to I/T Strategic intent and be able to translate and incorporate into roadmaps. Must be able to prioritize to help achieve incremental results progressively. Must be a self-starter in bringing structured thinking and planning aspects into the creative process of discovery of synergies while synthesizing aggregate roadmaps. A positive attitude toward a dynamic business environment will make this role valuable.
