As a Security Specialist you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Oversee a multi discipline Force Protection Program that includes, Anti-terrorism (AT), Physical Security, (PHYSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Foreign Travel (FT), and Emergency Management (EM).

• Serve as the district focal point for implementation of policies and procedures governing the DoDEA Force Protection Program.

• Conduct on-site physical security and risk management assessment inspections at assigned DoDEA facilities.

• Lead planner for Force Protection exercise program for DoDEA facilities.

• Implement, coordinate, and monitor Force Protection training for DoDEA employees (civilian/contractor) within their respective Area of Responsibility.


  • Overseas tour of duty for Grafenwoehr, Germany is projected to be 3 years.
  • You will be required to sign a transportation agreement.
  • Pre-appointment overseas medical examination and security clearance will be required for selected candidates and dependents who may accompany member on overseas assignment. Medical clearance must be maintained and renewed at a minimum of every 2 years as a condition of employment for overseas rotations.
  • Medical Care: Applicants who have family members with special medical needs should ensure that prior to accepting a position overseas their family members' medical needs can be met. Access to care in a military treatment facility may not be available to civilian employees except on a space available basis. Consequently, host nation medical facilities may be the only care available. The availability and level of care at host nation medical facilities will vary by location.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in direct deposit/electronic fund transfer in accordance with DoD Regulation 7000.14.R.
  • Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members (who are US citizens) are required to obtain Official Passports prior to departure to the overseas area. Selected individual will be required to sign a mobility agreement as a condition of employment and must be available for worldwide placement and must be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft to a variety of overseas locations for meetings and conferences.
  • May be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical of the overseas areas in which traveling, to include the potential for exposure to acts of terrorism.

  • Status applicants in their fourth year of an overseas assignment cannot be selected unless a waiver of the 5-year overseas service limitation requirement is approved.

  • Author, coordinate, and maintain facility level Force Protection plans through proper implementation of Antiterrorism, Physical Security, Operations Security, Information Security, Foreign Travel, and Emergency Management programs.
  • Conduct on-site physical security and risk management assessment inspections at DoD facilities, providing recommendations to correct deficiencies and shortcomings through detailed after-action reporting.
  • Develop and conduct tabletop and full-scale Force Protection exercises at DoD facilities, ensure annual DoD exercise requirements are fulfilled, tracked, and remediated as required.
  • Establish, maintain, conduct, and track annual Force Protection training for DoD employees, contractors, and students.

Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Comprehensive knowledge of DoD Antiterrorism, Physical Security, Operations Security, Information Security, Foreign Travel, and Emergency Management regulations and directives. 2. Ability to independently plan, research, and analyze, security technologies and programmatic enhancements used to accomplish the agency's Force Protection program. 3. Comprehensive ability to develop and present written and oral briefings and formal correspondence relative to decisions, conclusions, recommendations, and rationale to groups of high-level management officials and agency employees in matters pertaining to Force Protection.
