  • This position is located within the Facility Services Division of Office of State Parks in Baton Rouge, LA.

DUTIES: Perform general carpentry work involving the construction, alteration, repair, or maintenance of buildings, facilities, and furniture of properties managed by the Office of State Parks, including State Parks, State Historic Sites, and State Preservation areas.

Training in the carpentry trade will substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from the Apprentice jobs by its performance of journeyman level work and from the Carpenter Master and Foreman jobs by its lack of required supervisory duties.

Examples of Work

Performs general carpentry work involved with the repair, alteration, or maintenance of buildings and all related structures.

Builds or repairs shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture, concrete forms, trim, ceilings, and partitions.

Constructs simple structures such as tool sheds, house frames, toolboxes, and outbuildings.

Fits, cuts, and fastens all types of wall covering (paneling, sheet rock, plywood, etc.)

Directs and trains assigned helpers and apprentices.
