Big Data: work at the heart of the Internet designing and building the next generation Big Data systems and infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity for automation, simulation design and hands-on verification of extremely large scale, distributed, Big Data systems. About the Team
The Distributed Data Engineering team (DDE) owns and operates the Big Data systems that process, aggregate and store every Akamai network transaction for the purposes of analytics, billing, reporting, intelligence, decision support and provisioning. DDE systems currently receive over 3PB/day of data and process over 3 trillion records per day. The verification group within DDE has responsibility for the automation, simulation, verification and deployment of the applications and systems that enable one of the world’s largest engineered data systems.
Work in the engineering team, developing test frameworks and automation systems
Build CAP theorem and Big Data simulation clusters
Qualify DDE software releases, through feature analysis and hands-on testing
Document qualification results and release notes
BS in Computer Science or equivalent, MS preferred
6+ years of experience testing SW on C/C++ or Java
4+ years of experience with Linux and distributed systems
*3+ years of hands-on experience in Hadoop, Apache Spark,Kafka and
in supporting Hadoop applications and testing.
*Experience with testing real-time data-processing and Analytics Application
Knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, SSH, SSL and HTTP protocols
Knowledge of software development and design principles
Ability to troubleshoot complex network problems and customer issues
Proven track record of testing large amounts of high quality, complex code
Highly responsible, motivated, able to work with little supervision
*Experience in Apache Spark,Kafka,Cassandra implementation
*Comfortable with Agile software development methodologies
*Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to problem solving.
*Experience in load and performance testing, familiarity with testing tools such as
JMeter are an advantage
*Familiarity with bug tracking tools, i.e., JIRA or a similar tool
*Strong oral and written communication skills
