About the role:

This individual will work on systems engineering problems that are diverse in scope and which require a complex analysis and an evaluation of identifiable factors. Relies heavily upon experience and judgment to select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and to plan and accomplish assigned goals and objectives. Evaluates recommendations for the purchase of hardware components and related equipment based on analysis of specifications and intended use. Initiates and directs the analysis, testing, and evaluation of machine and hardware characteristics that may affect software systems performance. Implements hardware modifications or upgrades to ensure continued high levels of system performance. Assists in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of lower level systems engineers. Applies advanced understanding of business needs to the development of operating systems software tools. Prioritizes work as it relates to the achievement of short and long-term business goals and objectives.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 6+ years professional experience.
  • Operating systems include Solaris, AIX, and Linux.
  • Possesses knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve most system engineering problems.
  • Expert knowledge of system hardware design configurations that optimize system performance.
  • Expert knowledge of software for operating systems and its compatibility with selected hardware components.
  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of highly complex problems.
  • Ability to consistently apply broad knowledge of system engineering to the diagnoses and resolution of the most complex systems engineering problems.
