Responsibilities: The Trauma Response Coordinator (TRC) will facilitate a coordinated response to aid women in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody that have a history of trauma or abuse. Each TRC will be stationed at or in an ICE detention facility or Family Residential Center. At their duty location, the TRC will be responsible for developing educational programming and training for Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), medical, and contract facility staff, as well as liaising with community resources to provide a range of support activities, for women with a history of trauma or abuse. Each TRC will report to a Trauma Response Program Director stationed at ICE Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or an equivalent degree.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or an equivalent degree.

• Also preferred, but not required: Clinical license in good standing in the state in which the facility is located, that authorizes independent clinical practice.

• Trained and/or certified in trauma-informed service provision and administration.

• At least two years of experience with trauma-informed care or domestic violence support.

• At least two years of related experience (e.g., experience providing trauma-informed programming to immigrant or foreign-born females) and have knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures and requirements conducting a case management program at a local level.

• Experience working in or with individuals in a confinement setting.

• Experience with and an understanding of situations that contribute to family stress, problems and crisis situations.

• Required: Fluency in Spanish.

Bonus Points: • Establish a Trauma Response Program that provides training on the trauma-informed care for ERO, medical, and contract facility staff.

• Ensure annual training is offered and completed (to the extent possible) by all personnel who have contact with female dtainees, to include facility staff, ERO personnel, and ICE’s Health Service Corps’ (or other medical providers) medical and mental health staff.

• Collaborate with known external mental health resources for female detainees.

• Educate female detainees on such topics as: o Safety – How to ensure one’s physical safety. o Self-care and Empowerment –How to make and execute decisions for oneself. o If children are involved:

• Parenting – How to make and execute effective parenting decisions.

• How to keep a child safe – How to ensure child’s physical safety.

• Impact of domestic abuse and trauma on children – Identifying the effects of trauma on children, and how and when to seek help.

• Develop post-release resource list for female detainees who have been impacted by trauma (e.g., how to access shelters, housing, childcare, legal services, clinical resources, medical services).
