HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights w/Weekend Rotation in Austin, Texas


** Administers respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician. Conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.


Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to patient care.Uses a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic modalities in the treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases and conditions including oxygen and other specialty gases, aerosolized drugs, chest physiotherapy, resuscitators, ventilators, aspirators, pulmonary function, arterial blood analysis. Capable of monitoring and treating patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. Works closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals; other contacts include visitors, vendors, and staff from other area hospitals. Ability to write accurate and concise clinical documents. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the department and with department customers.

Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Recognizes that variables such as age, race, nationality, culture, disease-causing vulnerabilities, socioeconomic factors affect the patient populations under their care as defined in the unit’s provision of care statements. Uses interventions appropriate to these factors (e.g., interpreter, dietary preferences, social service consult, etc.) Expected to abide by all policies and procedures and inquire when needed for clarification.



Required: Sufficient college credits to qualify for registry exam or Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapist program required.


Preferred: Acute Care Hospital experience preferred



    Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

    Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas

    Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certification with specialization for healthcare providers


    ACLS and/or NRP

    NRP required for all NICU staff

    ACLS required for all ICU staff
