About the Role:

A Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Software Developer is responsible and accountable for the quality and coding of software components that make up complex systems serving GM’s customers, manufacturing facilities, and dealers.

The Java Developer will be responsible for design and development of application components and physical data structures based on business requirements and logical data models. This includes the design of application logic, software architecture, user interfaces, data interfaces, data conversion scripts, and reports.

This role typically works under the guidance and direction of a Technical or Development Lead, and in turn, may provide guidance and direction to junior or associate Developers. The Java Developer will have the opportunity to work closely with the Infrastructure Team (Server, Database, Storage, Network, Security) while providing support to the applications under their responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

+

2-5 years of experience writing Java/J2EE code

+

Experience with Spring Framework, MVC design patterns

+

Experience with web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, REST, AJAX, JSON, JQuery, AngularJS, and Ext JS (Sencha)

+

Experience querying and optimizing relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and basic relational data modeling.

+

Experience with various development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Iterative, Waterfall)

+

A current portfolio demonstrating expertise in executing technical deep-dives on software design, code, and test artifacts

+

Strong analytical skills and the ability to think outside the box

+

Experience in crafting detailed design specifications as well as test plans for unit and integration testing

+

Proven understanding of security, efficient code reuse, and software design

+

Strong oral, written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

+

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

+

Demonstrated experience working with object-oriented programming (OOP) and design principles

+

Ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications and designs as well as estimate the amount of effort necessary to complete the tasks

+

1-3 years of IT experience in the manufacturing industry (automotive or industrial) working on leading edge solutions in planning, engineering, sourcing, supply chain and logistics functions.
