Position Summary: According to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the Cardiology Technician is responsible for the performance of non-invasive cardiology procedures. This position works closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies while also promoting optimal unit operations and acting as a preceptor. The Cardiology Technician practices superior guest relation skills while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
Knowledge & Skills: Utilize open, professional communication (verbal, non-verbal, and written) to directly interact with physicians, patients, guests, and other health team members. Make decisions of moderate difficulty that reflect both knowledge and good judgment. Handle confidential information regarding patient activities. Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of all equipment used in Cardiology and related to their job functions. Demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia interpretation by passing the annual dysrhythmia test with a score of 85% or greater. Participate in budget control. Work with patients ranging in life span from infant to geriatric. Accepts shift work and takes call as needed. Proficiency in all of the skills required of a Cardiology Technician I. Ability to precept new employees not meeting expectations. Competency in scanning holters and performing arterial doppler studies.
Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Participation in a high school or college-level health careers program.
Experience: Required: One year minimum experience as a Cardiology Technician I. Proficiency in holter monitoring scanning. Proficiency in performing arterial doppler studies. Successful completion of the annual dysrhythmia test with a score of 85% or greater. Demonstrated ability to precept new employees and employees not meeting expectations.
Required: BLS (CPR) certification
