HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Paramedic Emergency Department - 12P to 12A in Augusta, Georgia
The Paramedic under the direction of the Medical Director and Emergency Services Director is responsible for implementing technical procedures and care on all Emergency Department patients safely and effectively.
The quality of care and service given will adhere to the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the department of nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, and their families.
The Paramedic works responsibly, directed by an RN in planning, and performing care for patient(s) in accordance with the physician’s orders, recognized nursing techniques, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
1. Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process.
2. Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement processes.
3. Supports, maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and
personnel. 4. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers. 5. Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information. 6. Evaluates, reports and documents patient response; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takes
appropriate action based on assessment of the patient. 7. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered. 8. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. 9. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results
in patient harm. 10. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements. 11. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. 12. Regular, punctual and dependable attendance. 13. Other duties as assigned.
Emergency Department: Population Served Neonate/infant, child/pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
License/certification: Paramedic License Licensure/ Certifications:
License/certification: Georgia State Paramedic License
BLS-AHA Healthcare Provider req PALS certification require
ACLS certification required
ASLS,CPI, PHTLS preferred
Critical Care Paramedic certification preferred
One (1) year of experience required
Two (2) years of experience preferred
