Service Area Overview: We recognize each patient’s journey to recovery is different and requires a special level of care. Our Medical/Surgical Unit at Northside Hospital provides acute and rehabilitative nursing care services to help our patients get back to their daily lives. The Med/Surg unit is characterized by a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere that stresses individual attention for all patients. This approach is reflected in outstanding patient satisfaction survey results. The unit also participates in nursing education by providing internships for students. Position Description: The Unit Secretary will be responsible for performing general clerical and reception duties according to needs of patient unit or department. Position is characterized by preparing and maintaining patient charts, transcribing physician orders, and entering information into computerized patient care system. This position requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining high standards and achieving the best possible outcome for patients. Works with patients of all age groups except neonate.
Position Requirements: One (1) year previous experience in a patient care, or any hospital clerical position or equivalent combination of education & experience. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to type. Demonstrates basic computer skills.
