This position is located at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health in Arlington Heights, IL.


Under the direction of the Outpatient Team Leader, is responsible for providing services to Outpatient clients, in the outpatient program. Additionally, responsible for supervision of assigned subgroup(s) of Outpatient clinicians.


  • Is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, admission, development of treatment plans, and discharge of clients. Provides outpatient services with assigned clients individually, in families, or in groups under the supervision of assigned clinical supervisor. Type of clients to be determined by staff training and experience and in collaboration with the Outpatient Team Leader.

  • Works evenings and Saturday’s as scheduled.

  • Provides for a safe, comfortable environment and therapeutic milieu for clients.

  • Documents all information, contacts, and relevant action taken in the client’s chart, maintaining chart compliance per agency compliance reviews.

  • Provides clinical supervision to designated OP clinicians and/or students on a group or individual basis. Provides final approval of assigned clinicians treatment plans and assessments when required for licensure.

  • Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed.

  • Collaborates with other agency staff on shared cases.

  • Completes client registration and billing information, works in cooperation with the Business Department to resolve any billing/financial issues.

  • Cooperates with all outside referral sources and third-parties and completes all required documentation in the specified time frame.

  • Provides confidentiality of client records and communications.

  • Participates in clinical supervision and actively seeks supervision and direction as needed.

  • Adheres to and follows the Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health’s policies, procedures, and Compliance Program.


  • Attends all required agency and team meetings.

  • Functions as a supervisor and resource person in the program when Team Leader is not available.

  • Uses tact and sensitivity and communicates effectively with clients, visitors, co-workers and other agency personnel when demonstrating awareness of client’s needs as a total person (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, cultural, etc.), consistent with client’s age and developmental level.

  • Demonstrates competence in working with clients of all ages as defined by agency age specific competency policy.

  • Functions as an organization symbol while participating in the Center’s strategic vision, demonstrating knowledge of its Values, Workplace Ethics and customer initiatives, while remaining sensitive to its Philosophy, and supporting its Mission by performing the functions of this position.

  • Adheres to and follows the Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health’s policies, procedures, and Compliance Program.

  • Follows agency policy for professional growth by attending workshops, seminars, conferences, in-service trainings, and by pursuing related courses.

  • Makes recommendations for quality and/or process improvements as well as the organization’s development in order to more effectively and efficiently perform the functions of this position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes, designated subgroup of OP clinicians and clinical interns

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in a behavioral science or a related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Three years relevant experience in the behavioral health field. One year postgraduate experience with chronically mentally ill preferred. Supervision Experience Preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS: Must meet criteria of an LPHA. Has a current, valid Illinois license in one of the following areas: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Clinical Psychologist.
