This position may be used for the purpose of filling multiple positions throughout the school year. There is no guarantee if or when a specific position may become available.
In this position, you will assist in the provision of continuing health care programs. Administer routine and emergency first aid to students. Take student sick call: Check students who request to be seen or who may have been referred by teachers. Check temperature and visual appearance to determine if child requires medical attention, should rest, or be sent home. Dispense predetermined dosage of prescription medicine provided by students parents as prescribed by medical authority for school use. Provide assistance to medical professionals in the administration of routine health tests (e.g., visual to determine color difficulties or unusual acuity, audio to record hearing ranges, scoliosis to observe spinal curvature, weight and height measurements) to note on the students record. Contact local health care officials or Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) representatives to arrange for speakers, examinations, or to procure health and safety materials such as posters, handouts, and materials for teachers to use in the classroom. Maintain student health records on a current and secure basis. Makes notations of data gathered. Completes accident/injury reports. Provide immunization follow-up to parents as needed. Make arrangements for sports physical examinations with medical personnel. Type routine correspondence relating to above duties such as letters to EFMP centers acknowledging appointment dates, letters to parents regarding students health or hygiene status, requisitions, etc. Enters student health data into the WinSchool health database module.

In order to qualify for this position, you will need six months of general experience; and six months of specialized experience. General experience is defined as any type of work that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Specialized experience for positions at GS-4 and above range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Applicants who have one year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated above, are not required to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. OR EDUCATION AND TRAINING SUBSTITUTION: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

Work schedules may be part-time, full-time or school year seasonal. Some positions are part-time with seasonal work schedules. School year seasonal work schedules include periods in a non-pay/non-duty status during the holiday, spring and summer recess periods.
A qualified typist is required for this position is (40 wpm).
Applicants may be required to complete a 1-year trial or probationary period.
You will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer in accordance with DoD Regulation 7000.14R.
Selectee must undergo Background Checks IAW DoDI 1402.5 (e.g. Local Files Check, State Criminal History Records Check, and National Agency Check Inquiries). Employment in these positions is subject to successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet/maintain these requirements may be grounds for termination.

Citizenship/Ordinarily Resident Status: Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are not considered Ordinarily Resident under the applicable Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). Family member appointments will expire based on the sponsor's rotation date. Family member appointments may not exceed two months after an employee is no longer considered a family member within the local commuting area due to PCS or divorce of sponsor or, in the case of a child, the age of 23. Family members are defined according to the DODI 1400.25, Vol.1232 as: For a military member whose duty station is in a foreign area, the member's spouse or unmarried dependent child. For a civilian US employee as defined by section 2105 of Title 5, United States Code, the employee's spouse, domestic partner, or unmarried dependent child, or unmarried child of the employee's spouse or domestic partner. A family member must physically reside with his or her sponsor to receive family member preference.

Locality Pay: Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Locality rates of pay in CONUS will not be used for pay setting when transferring to an overseas/foreign area.
