General Dynamics Information Technology Sr Principal Systems Engineer (Application Hosting) (TS/SCI w/ Poly Required) in Annapolis Junction, Maryland
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is looking for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to serve on the Application Hosting team supporting a mission centric 24x7 enterprise operations & data center(s) infrastructure. Candidate will support a wide variety of classified and unclassified networks dispersed over multiple geographic regions. The selected candidate will be responsible for designs and defining system architecture for new or existing computer systems. The candidate will perform the following duties:
Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.
Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Plans upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.
Develops documentation on new or existing systems.
Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.
May serve as a technical team or task lead.
Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
Masters Degree preferred.
Must possess a current TS/SCI polygraph clearance
10-15 years of related systems engineering experience.
Support the 1 st shift work schedule in a 24x7 Operations Center
Local travel to various program site facilities is required
Knowledge of ITIL service management processes
Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
Extensive experience of networking (LAN / WAN) technologies and protocols, AD/DC, and integration with service desk and other Enterprise Management/Monitoring Systems
Experience with enterprise data storage planning, design, testing and implementation of SAN, NAS, Virtualization and data center cloud services
Prior work on large, geographically disperse networks
Experience integrating storage and managed file system services with VMware ESXi and OpenStack platforms
Experience with ServiceNow or other service desk configuration management databases and monitoring tools
Advanced knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications.
Experience with working with various operating systems platforms, i.e. UNIX, Linux, Microsoft, etc.
Professional certification in one or more specific technologies is required, depending on job assignment such as Cisco, NetApp, Commvault, VMWare, Citrix, VSphere, Microsoft, ITSM products, ITIL Foundations, PMP, etc.
