Job Purpose

Perform quality assurance and control oversight of the Building Operations Support team, including the MEP and custodial subcontractors, vendors, and IDIQ projects. Primarily help ensure compliance with the contract (Performance Work Statement and Performance Requirements Summary), be innovative and resolve problems, and continuously drive improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal audits to include QA and QC of all Base Operations Support (BOS) personnel and their work. This includes specialized vendors (e.g., elevator and escalator maintenance; security doors, turnstiles and gates; roadway maintenance, etc.). Analyze trends; maintain records and audit documentation; assist in the training of non-quality staff for the overall improvement of the quality management system.

  • Provide administrative and tactical support to the Quality Manager (QM) and quality professionals; schedule and coordinate external audits conducted by our customer on BOS operations; create corrective action documentation for quality investigations and communicate status of open actions to the QM and others as required; help maintain quality records and data (hard copies and in database); track data and issues reports for quality metrics, corrective action reports, etc.; collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, utilize Pivot tables; etc. Strongly and proactively support the BOS vision and quality objectives.

  • Utilize Quality Management Software or database (ability to attend training and quickly become a proficient user of the software features and capabilities). Periodically evaluate the status of programs and recommend improvements. Independently write reports clearly and accurately so issues are easily understood by both a technical and non-technical audience.

  • Aid in the training, development and effective utilization of other internal auditors who perform audits as work ancillary to their regular job duties and responsibilities develop and give presentations (e.g., a training class to other internal auditors). Assist in their audit preparations and also their concluding reports. Work with BOS personnel in preparing CAPA reports.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous quality improvement in a facilities management service environment by recommending process improvements.

  • Ensure external audits responded to in a timely manner.

  • Manage records for nonconformance; transpose hand written notes into electronic form; and manage QC files on vendors.

  • Assist in the quality assurance and quality control in functional areas.

  • Apply solid working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 to help ensure SSI at the Mark Center maintains its certification.

  • Utilize Maximo (a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)); respond to unforeseen situations needing an initial response and assessment; track required report status.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designated individual.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensures

HS Diploma; three (3) to five (5) years of experience in quality control/assurance. Project management experience is an asset as well as construction or facilities management related experience. CQA certification within six months of hire (from the American Society for Quality (ASQ)) if the candidate doesn’t already have it; and able to obtain ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Training and experience in quality assurance and control, plus performing inspections and audits in facility management services or construction; solid working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 (9001:2015 is a plus); work with minimal supervision and direction; self-starter; ability to effectively manage and work on several initiatives; accuracy and intense attention to detail are paramount along with exceptional organizational ability; solution oriented thinker with strong problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills; ability to develop innovative solutions, act decisively, and exhibit sound judgement; intuitive and able to anticipate the needs of others; ability to perform in a high pressure environment; high proficiency in Word (including tables), Excel (including pivot tables), PowerPoint, SharePoint, and MS Outlook. Ability with Crystal report writing is a plus; able to attend training and quickly become a proficient user of the software features and capabilities of Quality Management System software; strong oral and written communication skills (able to communicate clearly and concisely); interpersonal skills to include the ability to talk with people, put them at ease, build trust, and be able to get complete and detailed answers to questions asked; position requires ability to independently write reports clearly and accurately so issues are easily understood by both a technical and non-technical audience; math skills (basic algebra); ability to identify and define problems and ideally also possess the ability to avoid problems by anticipating a situation before it develops; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; team oriented and flexible; the ability to drive continuous quality improvement in a facility management service environment; and a strong sense of customer service.
