Job Purpose

The Material Expediter assumes the role of first line chain of custody and accountability for all Government purchased material; arranges for tenant move requests; inbound and outbound Mark Center requests; and the transfer of materials to meet Mark Center logistics requirements in coordination with functional department leads and the Logistics/Inventory Team.

Essential Duty #1 The Material Expediter is the liaison between Dock receiving operations and Warehouse/Inventory operations. The Expediter ensures appropriate inventory support is maintained and assists the Inventory Team upon request.

Essential Duty #2 The Material Expediter shall assume the role of first line chain of custody and accountability for all Government purchased material; arranges for tenant move requests; inbound and outbound Mark Center requests; and the transfer of materials to meet Mark Center logistics requirements in coordination with functional department leads.

Essential Duty #3 The Material Expediter expedites flow of all material and parts delivered to and shipped outbound from the Mark Center RDF (Remote Delivery Facility/Loading Dock).

Essential Duty #4 The Material Expediter confirms and communicates shipping and delivery schedules and time-frames between the Dockmaster and expected delivery dates with the Purchasing Specialist, Inventory/Logistics Lead and SSI Functional area recipients.

Essential Duty #5 The Material Expediter is the primary backup and support for the entire Dock Team. The Expediter is the primary back up to the General Mail Clerk III and primary support for the Logistics/Inventory Team. The Expediter assists the General Mail Clerk III, Inventory/Logistics Manager, Inventory Specialist and Material Handlers as needed with large deliveries, moves and/or mail handling all while coordinating with the Dockmaster.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform duties as assigned by Supervisor. 2. Performs backup duties for Mail Operations in absence of General Mail Clerk III. 3. Ensures security and accountability of all material flowing inbound and outbound at the RDF/Loading Dock. 4. Provides inbound and outbound reports to the Dockmaster. 5. Performs inspection and operation and ensures proper maintenance scheduling on all Dock equipment. 6. Ensures daily security and accountability of all Government-purchased material in close coordination with the Logistics/Inventory Lead. 7. Coordinates/provides escort for service vendor visits and maintenance calls 8. Acting Lead and material expediter for all large move requests and ensures proper resourcing is obtained to perform the move request in coordination with the Dockmaster.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensures

Minimum two years previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced work environment preferred. • Exceptional organizational, communication and team building skills • Must obtain a valid up-to-date Forklift Licenses • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs.
